Couple and Family Therapists

Couple and family therapists practice a branch of psychotherapy that works with families and couples in intimate relationships in order to nurture change and development. In this type of therapy, change is viewed in terms of the systems in the family, and the interactions between family members. The relationships in the family are viewed as an important factor for psychological health.

Some of the reasons one would consult a couple and family therapist are:

  • Marital and couple conflict

  • Parent and child conflict

  • Sexual dysfunction

  • Grief

  • Eating disorders and weight issues

  • Children’s behavior problems, and issues with eldercare, such as coping with a parent’s or grandparent’s dementia
